Self-contained apartment

The Known World Boutique City Apartment is a beautifully appointed fully self-contained one-bedroom apartment in the heart of Ballarat, in a Victorian-era building, above The Known World Bookshop. This sanctuary in the city is furnished in mid-Century design classics. It has a private north-facing (sun-catching) patio, and secure overnight off-street parking. We can provide breakfast provisions for your first morning - fresh fruit, crusty bread, muesli, juice - or you can self-cater in the fully equipped kitchen. The Known World Boutique City Apartment is only minutes' walk from the Art Gallery of Ballarat, Her Majesty's Theatre and the railway station, and a short stroll from Ballarat's best cafes and restaurants. Browse in the Known World Bookshop, downstairs, which is open daily and has a broad collection of beautiful and interesting secondhand books and an Art Deco-influenced espresso coffee bar. Our apartment would suit a couple wishing to explore Ballarat's celebrated heritage and culture, or an executive looking for a central retreat. You simply can't get more central than this!

Locality

The Known World Boutique City Apartment is in the heart of Ballarat's retail precinct, within a short stroll of the Art Gallery, Her Majesty's Theatre, the railway station, department stores and Ballarat's best cafes and restaurants.

Property

We have filled our beautiful apartment with a wide selection of books, as you would expect above Ballarat's best secondhand bookshop. There are also games - chess, backgammon, etc - and we have a bicycle available for guests' use. The apartment can be accessed independently of the downstairs bookshop (but you are going to want to explore the shop during your visit, or drop in for great espresso coffee or a pot of tea), and the secure carpark is available overnight. If you love mid-Century design, you will love our beautifully appointed apartment - there are no frilly doilies or tea cosies here. It is a relaxed, refined and eminently comfortable modern space that will appeal to those who appreciate quality.
