Cottage, Bed & Breakfast

The Cottage Retreat is a self-contained dwelling with its own access. It overlooks a private valley and has paths leading to walks through the woods and wetlands. Frequent visitors include kangaroos, echidnas and wombats.

There is a king-sized bed from which the views are wonderful in all directions. To one side of the living area is a well-equipped kitchen, to the other a study area. A wood-burning heater and reverse cycle air conditioning guarantee comfort whatever the weather and there are books, music, television and DVD player for your enjoyment. The separate bathroom includes a large bath as well as a shower. A further small room can be used as an extra bedroom or studio.

While the Cottage Retreat is designed for those who desire complete privacy, guests are welcome to avail themselves of the gardens, swimming pool and croquet lawn at Tonimbuk House.

As well as lovely walks on and around the property we are close to Bunyip State Park. Covering 16,500 hectares, the Park caters for walkers,cyclists and horseriders, with kilometers of dedicated tracks. There are picnic spots with magnificent views from the Black Snake Range of mountains or, if you prefer, beside a creek in a fern- filled valley.

Tennis, golf, private massage, horse-riding, or a bird-watching expedition can all be arranged.

Provisions will be supplied in the cottage kitchen for breakfast and, by arrangement, for other meals. If you are arriving late a light meal and bottle of wine can be waiting for you.

Our aim is to provide quiet space and traditional country comfort for visitors with whatever level of service they desire.

Locality

We are only five kilometres off the Princes Highway and, now the Pakenham bypass has opened, are less than one hour from Melbourne CBD.

West Gippsland is a well-known gourmet region and Tonimbuk is a perfect base from which to explore its wineries and restaurants.
