Your dogs are very welcome at Countrywide - they will love the bush tracks, a cool swim in the dam and the home made doggie treats that welcome them on arrival too!

Try your luck at catching some yabbies in our fully stocked dam. You may even catch enough for dinner.

Come and meet Sam and Norman, our very shy but delightful alpacas. We have a bundle of sheep and sometimes a hand- reared lamb or two, as well as our cute lop-eared bunnies for children to play with. Our chickens will do their best to keep up the egg supply to ensure you enjoy a taste of their wonderful free range lifestyle - eggs are 'finders keepers'.

Check out the recreation area with a pool table and dart board in the "pub" and a gas BBQ undercover in the "saddlery" next door. There's plenty of room to kick the footy or bowl a few overs.

Countrywide Cottages are close to superb wineries, excellent cafes, berry farms and of course the Great Ocean Road, the Otway Fly, beaches, waterfalls and picnic spots. With lots of great day trips to choose from, it's an excellent place to stay and far enough away from the tourist crowds to be an authentic, tranquil Australian bush experience. Fabulous!

What's in the area

On easy main road access just 1.5 hours from Melbourne, we are cradled in the Otways hinterland, 25 minutes inland from Lorne and the beautiful Great Ocean Road.

There are three fabulous wineries within 15 minutes drive which are open for cellar door sales and tastings. Try the delightful new cafe 10 minutes down the road, or one or two of our other old favourites 12 minutes in the other direction.

In summer months, markets abound in the area - there is bound to be one on during your weekend stay. Of course a trip to the berry picking farms are a must too.

We are only an hour from the amazing Otway Fly Tree Top Walk, the longest and highest forest canopy walk of its kind in the world. The exhilarating views of the forest's natural wonders are breath-taking.

Easy drives can be taken to popular destinations such as Lorne, Apollo Bay, the magnificent Twelve Apostles and various picnic and waterfall locations.
Nearby recreational activities include golf, surf, rock and lake fishing, horse trail riding, 4 wheel driving and bushwalking.

We are proud of our 5 Paws Rating for Best Pet Friendly accommodation received in 2008. We provide cosy beds with blanket, bowls, home made doggie treats and furniture covers for the couch potatoes. Bushwalks from your door, leading up to the Otway Forest Park and a dam full of yabbies ensure there are plenty of fun options for your pet. There is a fully encloseable verandah out front of each cottage to keep your pet secure if needs be.
