Holiday house

Scamander Beach Shack - Tasmanian accommodation located opposite Tasmania's premium east-coast surfing beach. Uninterrupted views of waves and the Scamander River mouth provide breathtaking scenery sitting in the comfort of your accommodation.

Scamander Beach Shack is the ideal cosy getaway for a couple, keen surfers or fisherpersons! Alternatively, this small shack would suit a young family of 2 adults and 2 small children quite comfortably.

The shack has been refurbished with new carpet and new furnishings. The laundry is equipped with a washing machine and dryer for your convenience. A heat pump quickly warms the shack in winter.

Walk for miles along the white sandy beaches and take in the pristine blue-green crystal waters! Look out for dolphins from the verandah! Catch a bream off the the old Scamander bridge or try your luck at beach fishing!

Bay of Fires

The internationally recognised Bay of Fires is situated between Eddystone Point and Binalong Bay and is one of Tasmania's most popular tourist destinations. With its stunning blue water, red rocks, white beaches and fishing lagoons, the Bay of Fires has something for everybody.

What to see
St Columba Falls & Ralph Falls

St. Columba Falls is approximately 38km from St Helens (North East). While in the area be sure to stop for a cool drink at the Pub in the Paddock that has a beer drinking pig called Slops. The Columbia falls are high and there is a platform to view the falls as well as be able to take some great photographs.

Scamander Beach Shack is a cosy retreat offering prime surfing beach and river mouth views. The shack is fully contained and is exclusive to those who book. Fishing,surfing,walking on pristine the beaches (including the now famous Bay of Fires), wineries within driving distance and close to restaurants. No phone. Possibilty exists for guests to bring their own kayaks, canoes and boats.

Less than 5 minutes walk to the beach, Less than 5 minutes drive to the beach, Some beach gear provided - see description for details, Beach views.

The beach is located across the road from the shack. We have surfboards of different descriptions in the shed for use.

Canoeing & Kayaking

Guests welcome to bring their own canoe/kayak, Secure storage facilities available, Located on waterfront, Less than 5 minutes walk to water, Less than 5 minutes drive to water.

We have a large lock- up shed to store canoes and kayaks. 2 minute walk to the beach from the shack and river.

Family Friendly

Games/videos for children under 5 available, Games/videos for children between 5 and 12 available, Games/videos for children over 12 available, Games room.

We have a single bed wiith a rollout single bed, table tennis, childrens videos, scrabble, pictionary, dominoes,game of life, chess,backgammon, cards.

Fishing

Fishing spots available nearby, Fishing gear available for use, Local fishing knowledge available, Located on waterfront, Located less than 5 mins walk to water, Located less than 5 minute drive to water, Boatramp within 5 minute drive, Boat storage/parking available onsite.

We have fishing rods for beach fishing. Scmander River has an old bridge with fishing holes located in the river below. Boat ramp exists next to the bridge. St Georges Bay is excellent for fishing 15 minutes from Scamander. Fishing available along the coast.

Motor Bike Friendly

Property is located on a sealed road, Motor bike riders welcome, Motor bike parking available, Lockable parking facilities for motor bikes.

As long as boots are kicked off etc. before entering shack to keep it clean for next guests.

Pet friendly

Small dogs (less than 11 kg) are permitted, Medium dogs (11 kg to less than 34 kg) are permitted, Large dogs (34 kg or heavier) are permitted, Pets are permitted outside only, Food and water bowls provided, Bedding/sleeping area provided.

The yard is fenced except for the driveway-so not fully fenced. The laundry and shed are available for sleeping quarters if they bring their own beds. Pets may need a chain to be restrained if they roam as we have a road in front and at the side.The property may not be suitable to be advertised as pet friendly ?Some people are just grateful to be able to travel with their pets and come equipped with their needs...I will leave it up to you to decide.

Romantic getaway

Accommodation just for two, Private living and recreation areas, Chocolates provided on arrival.

The shack in its simplicity is a private getaway for romantics as the entire shack is theirs alone with amazing seaviews. We place wine and chocolates in the shack for honeymooners.

Scuba diving

Scuba diving available nearby, Scuba diving gear available for rent nearby.

Binalong Bay has diving tours available where guests can hire their equipment.

Wake boarding / water skiing

Wake boarding and/or water skiing facilities nearby, Boat ramp within 5 minute drive, Parking for boats available, Secure boat parking available

Windsurfing/Kitesailing

Popular windsurfing and/or kitesailing spots nearby, Windsurfing/kitesailing storage available onsite.

We have a lock-up shed on the property that can house wind-surfing equipment. I am not sure where you can hire windsurfing equipment. Must check it out! :-) The beach is literally across the road from the shack.
